š¹ Difference Between 205 And 225 Tires
In the tire comparison table above, you can see a detailed calculation of the size difference between 205/70 R15 and 225/75 R15 tire. The calculation results are presented in the form of visual infographics, on which tire with size 205/70 R15 is on top, and tire with size 225/75 R15 below. Both in the table and in the graph, the tires are
The difference in weight carrying is due to the load rating of those two tires. Notice that the 215 tire is a load rating "C" with 50 psi max air pressure while the 205 tire is a load rating "D" with 65 psi tire pressure. That's the reason for the difference. If both tires were the same load rating the 215 tire would be rated for higher load.
Aspect Ratio. Aspect ratio/tire profile/series is the relation of the tireās width and height in percent. So, 55 profile is 55% of the width, meaning the tireās height is (taking the width of 205 mm) 112.75 mm or 4.4ā. You may see tires without these tire numbers, meaning the tireās profile is standard ā 82%.
*Assuming tires are only used in the winter season, which is defined as approximately from mid-October to mid-April (6 months for very cold regions), and that an average user would go about 1,200 miles per month, the Bridgestone Blizzak⢠WS90 would last an extra winter season vs. the Bridgestone Blizzak⢠WS80 tire.
And since tires have two sidewalls, one on top and one on the bottom, the total height difference between the full 255 tires and 225 tires is double that per-sidewall difference. So, with identical 70 aspect ratios, the overall height of a 255 tire would be 42 mm more than a 225 tire (2 x 21 mm).
I have a 205/75r15 trailer tire load range E, and I was looking all over the internet and all I can find is 225/75r15 load range E. However, I can not find 205/75r15 load range E only load range D. I was wondering if i could replace the 205 with the 225 on the same rim. Thank you, asked by: Michael R
